An Annual Tradition

Each year our family heads over to the Governor's Mansion to shake the main man's hand and then eat tons of yummy cookies, admire the gingerbread houses created by students from all over Juneau, and listen to the choirs sing. Mostly we are there for the cookies. Just being honest.
This year my sweetie was home with a nasty flu bug so I took the kids myself. Part of the fun is waiting in line to go in and sampling from the cookies trays and apple cider that State workers are passing out to everyone waiting. We usually go with friends to this event and since I was holding the camera, most of the pictures are of them. I have included the only one of me, standing by the Governor with my eyes closed. Smooth!

Guess what? When Governor Parnell saw my camera, he said, "Wow! That is one serious camera." Indeed.

2 amazing observations:

I really wanted to go to this event. It was 430 when I realized what day it was (yes, it was that kinda day) and my kids had boogers all over their faces. It would have been a challenge to get over there and look presentable. Oh well, there is always next year or knocking on his door.
