Printable Thanksgiving Subway Art

Subway art is all the rage right now. I can't exactly explain why it appeals to me, but it does. Want a FREE printable to add to your Thanksgiving decor?

Okay, this isn't subway art, but what a neat idea to have a faux burlap printable:

I found both of these at one of my favorite blogs, Craftily Ever After. Click on each picture to download. ENJOY!

Art Appreciation

I enjoy all types of art- painting, sculpture, photography, drawings are a few. Some pieces are funny or relaxing. Others make me think or inspire me. One of my favorite courses in college was Art Appreciation. I find it fascinating how culture influences artistic expression.

I wish I could draw like the picture below. Very simple and graceful.

This painting by Arnold Friberg called "Prayer at Valley Forge" depicts an actual event of George Washington praying for his armies.

This type of art just brings a smile. Simple and cartoon-ish. Reid is enjoying creating similar pieces on the computer.

Aren't botanicals amazing? Nature creates the best color palates.

I am a sucker for Mother/Children art.

I love birds in artwork. I am not sure exactly why. They just make me happy.

Architecture can definitely be artistic. I have a soft spot for this work of art.

Who came up with the idea to photograph flora like this? I like how the color is de-emphasized and the form becomes the focus. Very modern.

Okay, she cracks me up! What more can I say?

Black and white photography is one of my favorites. The mood of the picture changes. As much as I love color, when it is removed, there is less to distract from the substance of the picture.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think this particular subject is a masterpiece! (my daughter, 4 years old)

What is your favorite kind of art?

Iphone Art

Reid was playing around with my cell phone last week and discovered a fun app called "SketchMee". It turns your cell pictures into sketches. Who knew a cell phone could create art??

Inkscape Art

Reid was sketching on a new program tonight and this is what he made. So cute. I think I need to hire him to make some vector art. I love that my kids can do things that I have absolutely NO talent in. At least in this case, it must have come from his father's side :)
