You get What you Get

I love this fun freebie print from Becky Higgins:

Here is another view:

Isn't this a great attitude to have?

I will quote what Becky said:
"Sometimes life just doesn’t feel fair. Sometimes we’re dealt stuff that makes us feel like complaining and bickering. The thing is — life is made up of this stuff. It’s unavoidable. And we either complain about it or we make the most of a tough situation. We can choose to think long & hard about what lessons we are to learn from the experience. And then we can be better for it. But we have to choose that. We have to choose to not “have a fit”.

This is part of cultivating a good life.

Put this in your kitchen area to remind your kids to not be picky. Have it on your desk as a reminder to keep on keepin’ on, even when you’re not loving the next item on your to-do list. Wherever you use the print, may it be a simple reminder to keep your chin up, try new things, and have a positive attitude about it all."

Good advice AND and cute, free print. Go HERE to get it!

I'm Weird

I love pretty things. I love looking through my Martha Stewart magazine or my Pottery Barn catalog. I can actually feel my blood pressure decrease at I flip through their pages. I love ruffles and high heels and babies, and cupcakes.
But I also have a dark side. I love stories about vampires, werewolves, and most recently zombies. I never thought I would find zombies interesting. Then I started watching AMC's "The Walking Dead". It's gross, intense, and full of despair. And I love it. Weird huh? I am a bit puzzled about this myself. Is it normal to like Martha Stewart and zombies? Probably not.

Okay, getting back to the lighter side. Valentine's is on it's way soon. Click HERE to link to this free printable subway art from Eighteen25.
Wow, zombies, Martha, and Valentines all in the same post. That would make for one weird dream...

I love COLOR

I don't love painting. It can be messy and time consuming. But, I do love what a can of paint can do to change the feeling in a room.
Did I mention yet that we just finished a major switch-a-roo of our children's bedrooms? My boys were ready to have their own rooms and my girls needed to move into a bigger room. So the boys split up and one took over the girls old room and the girls claimed the old playroom. Changing a room from a girl room to a teen aged boy's room required a new paint job.
I WILL TAKE PHOTOS OF THE KIDS' ROOMS & POST THEM SOON.

I usually get my inspiration from one of two places: Pottery Barn or Martha Stewart.

Yep, they are great at making a room look amazing so I trust them when it comes to paint colors.

My favorite paint brand is Benjamin Moore. I used their traditional paint for several years and then a couple of years ago I tried their low VOC line called "Aura".
I will never go back! I love the coverage Aura gives and it doesn't stink for days like other paints.

Now that the paintbrush and roller are out of the garage, I have the itch to paint another room! While at Home Depot yesterday to pick up a totally unrelated item, I happened to stroll through the paint section. Now my craft table looks like this:

I think I have the next room picked out that I want to paint. Now I just need to wait until my dear husband goes on a trip since he thinks all the walls look fine. This is how it works; he doesn't want to paint anything, then I paint somewhere, and he is happy and loves the result. We've got our system down!

Getting into the Holiday Spirit

Sometimes you just need a change. This year I changed our holiday decor colors from traditional red and green to silver, blue, and purple. I had loads of help from a certain adorable resident 5 year old.

I made some super cute (and super easy) holiday glitter trees. I will show you the final result in a later post.
I hope you are having fun decking your halls too!
