My preschooler is a study in contrasts. She can be so happy one minute and then as stubborn and grumpy as the troll under the bridge.
Sometimes I don't know what to do to parent her properly. Should I be softer- or firmer?
Sometimes she amazes me with what she knows. Other times her silliness and witty comments provide the best laughter of the day.
Last week she bought tears to my eyes when we were talking about her adoption. I told her she was born from another lady's body and then I came to bring her home because I loved her.
In her simple, child-like way she replied, "And because I wanted you." I answered, "Oh, I wanted you too. You are my daughter."
I know her and I will get through the ups and downs of her growing up. These are just part of the journey.
