Order from Chaos

TRUTH #1 Real life gets messy. It takes work to enjoy order.

I am very grateful to have a pantry, but over the holidays it really spun out of control. Who has time to keep things straight when you're livin' life & enjoying family?
Today started out with my little lamby waking up with a cough. So I cancelled my plans for the day, stayed in my PJ's, and watched cartoons & napped with my little daughter.
Feeling refreshed, I resumed tackling my pantry.
To really get it clean, I decided to unload the entire pantry & begin again by assigning zones (baking, spices, paper products...).

Pantry items were first placed on a fold up table so my counters wouldn't get messy.

That lasted awhile, but eventually I needed more space

Just a glimpse into the pantry as I am cleaning

TRUTH #2 Order is AWESOME!

Right now I want to live in my pantry. Is it normal that a part of my soul feels JOY when I look at food neatly stacked in airtight containers?

Without shame I admit I feel excited to use my label maker in here!

Cleaning my pantry doesn't make the list of what I love to do. But I actually feel great about getting this done.

Hmm, I guess I need to clean the kitchen too.
Wait, I have children! They can clean the kitchen. I knew I had children for a good reason!

That is my kind of pantry! That looks like it took a lot of work. When my house is clean and organized, I am happy. There IS Joy in order!

Yes! Looks great. I wish I had a pantry to organize and go to. My cupboards are a mess and I will get to it within a couple months.
It's nice too because you see exactly what you have and a spot for future purchases.
Good job. You conquered it!
