Memorial Day Tradition

Each Memorial Day we come to the cemetery to visit our family graves. Both of my parents have family buried here. I want my children to take time to remember and honor their ancestors
First we visit the grave site of my mother's grandparents & aunt

Then we go to my father's father's grave

After that, we walk around looking at other headstones

And the beautiful flowers left by loved ones

While it is a peaceful tradition, there is time for the kids to run around a bit and enjoy being outside. When I was a child I came to this cemetery almost everyday in the summer to run and play with my sisters or friends.
I like seeing my own children do the same.

Before we left Helaina said,
"I think we should come here everyday.
It would be a nice place to sit & sketch."
I agree.
